Dengue fever in Malaysia remains high with a total of 24,917 dengue cases reported as of 29 March, 2014.
From January to March, dengue has taken away the life of 58 patients from Johor, Selangor, Terengganu, Kuala Lumpur and Sarawak.
According to Health General Director, Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, the top Aedes hotspots are in Selangor (10,971 cases), Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya (1,898 cases), Perak (1,395 cases), Johor (1,281 cases) and Kelantan (948 cases).
Ministry of Health (MoH) has been conducting several public awareness campaigns nationwide through radio, social media, advertisements, talk shows, road shows and meet-the-people sessions. The ministry will continue to enforce the operations to educate the public on the danger of Aedes mosquitoes.
