Disinfect Your Home Before Moving In After Renovation

Dear readers, as we are into our 3rd week of FMCO, I hope you and family are staying safe and continue to follow strict SOP whenever you have to go out.

With the travel ban since last year, I noticed that Malaysians have shifted their spending behaviour - with most doing their shopping online (including myself!). Another trend that I saw was a lot of Malaysians renovating their home or moving houses.

When MCO was more lenient last year, a few of my neighbours were having their home done - someone was repainting their wall, another was redoing her front porch. I even saw a family who had a swimming pool built in their garden!

Another thing that I noticed was although MCO was more lenient back then, most of the workers were not wearing their masks. I can truly understand the difficulty of working and breathing in a mask especially under the hot sun, but I can’t help but feel worried by the fact that the elderly and kids are being exposed to the risk of COVID-19 spread from the workers. Especially after I read news about how COVID-19 cluster were formed among foreign workers (nothing against our foreign worker friends but a research from UKM* found that 2.15 of every 3 infected persons are non-citizens).

Although some of my neighbours were not home during the renovation work, the risk of COVID-19 spread could be high because the virus can also be spread through touch. Did you know that Coronavirus can remain on some surfaces for up to 28 days? Which is why, I would highly recommend that homeowners who are having their home renovated to do a precautionary disinfection before moving in. This simple action will provide you and family with a lot of assurance that any viruses, or germs that were left are wiped out before you move in.

If you are planning to have your home renovated, or it is being renovated halfway or if you have plans to move to a new home, drop us a call now at 1300 881 911 to get advice on our Precautionary Disinfection Service.

For now, continue to stay safe and I’ll share with you more stories in the next article.
