Rentokil Initial Adopts SJK (C) Jit Sin A Butterworth

Butterworth, 30th April 2014 – Rentokil Initial, the pest control and hygiene services market leader in Malaysia, committed to improve hygiene standards and pest awareness through local community support. By using interactive materials and the expertise of colleagues in its CSR initiative ‘Community Oriented Health Education Programme’ or COHEP in short, Rentokil Initial Malaysia focuses on the provision of health education with educational talks that promote good hygiene practices and create dengue awareness within the community.

Rentokil Initial Malaysia recently launched its ‘Adopt-a-School’ programme that targets primary schools nationwide. During the first session, primary 1, 2 and 3 students from Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan (C) Jit Sin A, were taught on the differences between clean and hygiene. Proper hand washing techniques were also demonstrated and accentuated in the Personal Hygiene Awareness Talk by a Rentokil Initial representative.

The programme continued with a Feminine Hygiene Awareness talk, which aims to educate female students from primary 4, 5 and 6 on the importance of personal hygiene during menstruation and correct ways to dispose sanitary napkins. Male students from primary 4, 5 and 6 joined the audience for Dengue Awareness Talk that highlights the danger of Aedes mosquitoes and prevention measures against dengue fever. This half day informative programme had benefitted about 700 students from the school.

To further support this programme, Rentokil Initial Malaysia had also ‘adopted’ 2 student washrooms in SJK (C) Jit Sin A, providing proper washroom hygiene facilities as well as mosquito fogging services around the school compound.

"We are dedicated to educate the younger generation and provide guidance on cultivating good hygiene habits through our programmes, by leveraging on our passion and technical expertise that enable us to guide the community.” said Carol Lam, the Managing Director of Rentokil Initial Malaysia.

The students were very enthusiastic in taking part in the fun and interactive activities, such as quizzes and prizes were rewarded to those who answered the questions correctly. Hand sanitisers sponsored by Rentokil Initial Malaysia were also distributed to all students that attended the programme.

Rentokil Initial Malaysia is excited about this programme and its contribution back to the society. This meaningful activity was fully supported by Rentokil Initial’s management, staff, family and friends.
