Appearance

•  Many different species. 7 - 50mm in length.
•  Narrow and cylindrical with many body segments.
•  Each body segment has two pairs of legs 17 - 100 pairs of legs.

Lifecycle

•  Eggs are deposited in clusters in the soil and immature stages pass through several moults over about 2 years.

Habits

•  Millipedes feed on plants and damp/decaying vegetable matter. They roll into a spiral when disturbed.
•  Usually found outdoors.
