Suborder: Lacertilia

• Adult length - few cm to nearly 3m.
• They are usually four-legged, with external ear openings and movable eyelids and their bodies are covered with scales or horny plates.
• Female lizards reach sexual maturity at 2 to 3 years of age,
and the breeding season begins during late spring.
• Females find a damp site where they deposit six to10 eggs and
then guard their eggs during incubation.Younglings hatch after about six weeks, and once hatched the female leaves them.
• Their lifespan can vary in the wild/captivity depending on species.
• Many lizards can change colour in response to their environments or in times of stress.
• The tails of many lizards will break off as a defence mechanism.
