Appearance

•  Large and heavy bodied. Many different species.
•  End of the abdomen is bent downwards and elongated in a way that resembles a sting.
•  Mostly yellow–brown in colour.

Lifecycle

• Adults emerge in May — sometimes called the Maybug.
•  Live for about 4 years.

Habits

•  Feed voraciously on plant roots and can be an important agricultural pest.
